BOD Meeting Highlights

  1. Completed painting the 44 Ton engine

  2. Painted the 329 Nickel Plate Engine

  3. Painted the front of the Monument Station

  4. Painted the wooden reefer

  5. Painted Freight House and NYC sign

  6. Painted the coach house lights

  7. Painted the paper box

  8. Repaired the wheels on the roaring camp passenger car and delivered it to Carl Norse.

  9. Polished and waxed the 900 Nickel Plate Engine.

  10. Replaced the windows in the Troop Sleeper Car

  11. Ran a successful Car Show (which contributes funds to the budget)

  12. Repaired several steps up to the cars and engines.

  13. Participated in the annual safe Halloween, with a museum open house.

  14. Made several upgrades to displays, including the one in the Anniversary Car.

  15. Cleared out the gift shop for re-painting and new(er) carpeting.

12/12/07 BOD Meeting

  • Earl Daniels and Mike Todd volunteered to be the nominating committee for the upcoming elections of trustees and officers. If you are interested in running please contact either of them.

  • John Fryar has volunteered to work on the Mad River & NKP web site. It has been out of date and neglected for a year or more. The website provider HMC was sold to Crosnet. Now we can get into the webstie. Contact Chris Beamer if you want anything posted on the website or see something that needs to be corrected.

  • There is a plan for a 2008 Car Show, but there are two others scheduled for August 30th, Bellevue, Milan and Sandusky, so we are moving ours to August 23rd.

  • Earl thanked everyone who worked on the Christmas party. There has been a Bronze Plaque made honoring Bill Fuehring and his contributions to the museum. It will be dedicated at 1:00 PM on Saturday June 21, 2008.

  • The windows and in particular the gasket seals around the windows are in bad shape on the GGE 44Tengine. Water is coming in and will contribute to rust. The rubber seals need to be replaced.
  • The NMRA (National Model Railroad Association is having a regional convention in Cleveland on May 17th, and plans a tour bus of  30 to 50 people to visit the museum. Anyone wanting information can contact Dale Owens.

  • Chris Beamer has contacted the Head (person) of Steam, at Ohio Central, and he said he would /could appraise the value of the Brooks Steam Engine. You may remember that we have another museum interested in buying it from us.

  • The Medina Railroad Museum in Buffalo NY is interested in leasing the business car. They would take care of the brake & valve work.

1/9/07 BOD Meeting

  • Old business was reviewed

  • The 2007 budget was discussed, and we were within a couple hundred dollars of making our overall budget.

  • The 2008 budget was created and approved. Total expenditures will be around $ 50,000.

Carl has an open house during the holidays for area kids to see his collection of trains and give them a ride in  a real passenger car. They also have a chance to have their pictures taken with Santa Claus

A Call For Articles -- Anyone who has a story, or knows someone who knows a story of historical railroading interest, please submit them to me via e-mail at dddaddy@yahoo.com for presentation in the newsletter. Pictures with a few brief words of description, are also an interesting addition to the newsletter. You can also hand write them and send them to the museum attention  - Dale Owens
