Faces - Of Museums

It is always so hard to get started writing the newsletter. But doing it during the summer is harder yet. There is always too much to do, and so many events taking place, that it is hard to fit it all in. Actually there really is time, but when the weather is as nice as it has been, getting motivated is challenging. The good news is that summer means vacation time and for this year, it meant traveling to the East Coast and as far north as Arcadia National Park in Maine.

Inside This Issue

Before we left I stopped by the Trackside Gift Shop (at the museum) and picked up a copy of: Trains - Tourist Trains Guidebook, which has virtually every tourist rail and train museum in the country listed in it. As time would allow and my family would endure, we stopped at several tourist rail and museum sites, not to mention countless abandoned train stations (not in the book) to take pictures. Have you ever tried to turn around a twenty nine foot motor home, to go back to take a picture of a run down, abandoned train station? More about that a little later.

The big event so far this summer was the rededication of the museum in Bill Fuehring's memory. You have probably already noticed the newsletter is significantly longer than normal. We have a full review of the rededication with pictures included. If you were not able to attend you missed a great event. I have tried to arrange that section so it can be separated and kept as a stand-alone document.

Also the newsletters are starting to be posted on the Mad River & NKP museum web site. If you have not been to the website lately check it out. The address to the home page is http://www.madrivermuseum.org/.

I plan on making a full color version of the re-dedication (section) with additional information and maybe some additional pictures, available on the web site within the next couple of weeks (OK, it could happen).

Other things happening this summer are the opening of the Anniversary Car exhibit, the Car Show, the annual picnic and much more.

Get out and visit your museum, volunteer, help out, have fun !!!!!!!
