Faces - of the Museum The long and snowy winter has blossomed into an unusually warm spring. Along with the blossoming daffodils the museum will become alive with activity as we begin to clean up and spruce up the museum for the 2010 season. But alas nothing worth having is spared a little hard work and so it goes with the museum. |

Here is my first pitch of the season for volunteers. Please come to the museum on Saturday mornings from now until the museum opens up in May to help clean. If you can work only a few hour that would be great Just about everybody can rake leaves or pick up sticks. Bring the family and make a game of it. There are hundreds of display cases to clean and a whole lot of floors to sweep. But you know what? When we get done there is a satisfaction that makes it all worth while. With the opening of the museum in May Patti the Trackside Gift Shop Manager will also needs help. Patti works a lot of hours but she can't do it alone. |

On another note - I don't know if it was a lack of getting the information out to the members on my part, poor planning on everybody's part or just a bad time to have the annual meeting, but it was really poorly attended this year. Mike Todd brought the chicken, and a few hardy soles brought sides. All in all there was less than a dozen people. Several people came and left thinking it was to be catered. We dutifully carried out the elections and ate more chicken than we should have. I certainly will do my part next year to make it a quality event. - Dale Owens News Letter Editor. I'm very happy to report that on May 26, longtime member Jim Semon will be our Guest Speaker and will be doing a program on the "History of Clydesdale Motor Trucks". He will have slides and some memorabilia. These trucks were made in Clyde, Ohio with many being shipped overseas crated on railroad flatcars via NYC Lines & Big Four. Let's give Jim a big welcome and perhaps he'll come back another time with a program on one of his many other interests, i.e. Lake Boats, rail trips, the Nickel Plate RR, etc., etc. - Ruth Fuehring |
