A Bit of History - Bill Fuehring Plaque and Museum Re-dedication - By Ruth Fuehring

No discussion of the history of railroading and the Mad River and NKP museum would be complete without talking about the hard work, dedication and contributions made by Bill Fuehring. Bill was instrumental in the formation and expansion of the museum. His passing in October of 2006 will impact the museum forever.

Lest we forget his contributions the museum will be rededicated to the memory of Bill Fuehring on
June 21, 2008, with the ceremony taking place at 1PM.

To assist in making this celebration a special success, the Norfolk Southern Corporation will have on hand their Business Car Train compete with recently refurbished and rare, special services
F-Series Locomotives as motive power to participate in the reenactment of the original dedication which took place almost to the day, 32 years ago.

On hand as main speaker will be Railway Age's "Railroader Of  The Year", NS Vice Chairman and Chief Operating Officer, Mr. Steven C. Tobias who was Bellevue Terminal Assistant Superintendent in 1976. Mr. Tobias's participation, demonstrates the continuity and continuing support this museum receives from NS well into the fourth decade of it's existence.

Various other dignitaries will be participating in the dedication. Following the ceremony, musical entertainment will be provided by Steve Jeffries from Indianapolis, Indiana, a friend to Bill and the museum.

In addition to the guest speakers, a bronze plaque will be presented to the museum in memory of Bill's contributions. A special invitation is issued to all other members who were involved in the early years and the building of the museum
